Since construction started mid Summer and the house won't be completed until late November there are a mix of pictures of our house in various stages of construction (including when it was a bare lot) and pictures of neighbouring houses that have been completed with similar interior finishings. There are also quite a few pics of the town and surrounding area, etc. Any pics that look like a finished home are from the insides of one of the other houses on the street from the same builder. The fixtures, appliances, cabinets, etc. will be very similar though the floorplan is a bit different.
The house is four story home with approx 2000 sq ft living space. Homes in Richmond/Steveston don't have basements due to the low lying area (sea level). The ground floor has a 2 car garage and 2 rooms that will be partly finished that can be used for TV rooms, storage or extra living spaces. The ground floor is also where all the crazy wiring that Dennis is so proud of connects all the whiz-bang technology (theatre room with projector, flat-screen above fireplace, 21 in-ceiling speakers all over, etc). The main floor is an open concept floor plan with living/kitchen/dining areas with plenty of windows to benefit from the mountains. A large front porch wraps around to a deck facing North across farm lands towards the mountains.
The floor above this will have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths (one ensuite to master). The fourth floor is a small loft with a small deck with views to the river and mountains.
All the houses here have VERY SMALL yards and because our lot is at the end of the row with boundaries that include agricultural land, we'll have a small back and side yard that we hope look and feel much bigger given the neighbouring open fields.
Sandy (Nicole's mom) has moved to the West coast to live with us as of early September. We're all still in the house we rent in Kerrisdale until the house is ready.
